Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement (MJDA) is for peace and stability, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

Speaking to Al-Arabiya English during a special interview, he has said that no country has any issue with this agreement, which is based on collective deterrence and has “no offensive, no interference, no aggressive element” and is purely defensive in nature.

The DG said that all three countries, Pakistan, Turkiye and Saudi Arabia had good relations with China.

He made it clear that the agreement would have no bearing on Pakistan’s relations with Iran.

When asked how Pakistan would respond if any one of the partners came under attack, the spokesperson said the operationalization of the defensive commitments had never been made public in any discourse.

He said the three countries would decide how to respond, adding that they would decide the course of action.

He said Pakistan’s relationships with both Saudi Arabia and Turkiye had not “come out of the blue”, adding that China and the world understood how historic and deeply rooted these relations were and that Pakistan was formalizing them.

Chaudhry said that India must bear this thing in mind that if it again tried to attack Pakistan, the consequences would be far more catastrophic.

He said that during the 2025 military confrontation with India, Pakistan used only 10 to 15 per cent of its capabilities. "Talks will be held with India on the condition that it stops supporting terrorist outfits in Pakistan."

The DG ISPR said it was wrong to say there was any kind of rebellion in Balochistan. "Terrorists in the province enjoy the support of foreign elements."

He said that thousands of terrorists were eliminated in thousands of intelligence-based operations carried out during the ongoing year.
