Poultry traders went on strike across Punjab including Lahore and halted supply of chicken across the province on Wednesday.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the poultry traders demanded that the price mechanism directed by the Lahore High Court should be restored.
The channel reported that on Wednesday, broiler chickens have not been supplied in Punjab including Lahore and both the major markets in Lahore, Tolanton Market and Broiler Mandi Badami Bagh remained empty.
As per the channel report, the daily consumption of broiler chicken is 8500 tons in Lahore only and people associated with hotels, barbeques and processing food points faced difficulty in getting the chicken meat.
