Sindh senior minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that PPP government always worked for the welfare of the women to empower them to make their lives a success, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Addressing a ceremony in which Sindh government offered free EV scooters to women, Sharjeel Memon said 150 women in Sindh province had motorbike licenses, now 20000 women have applied for driving licenses.
He said that Sindh province is giving away free scooters, helmets, licenses and training for free as there was no donor agency in this project. Memon said there was no need of recommendation in this scheme.
He said the vision of the PPP is progress and prosperity, propaganda will continue, the decision has to be made by the people. Memon said registration of pink scooters has also been made free. He advised women not to put scooters in homes and drive them safely.
He urged the audiences to look at the history of Pakistan, if any political party has done the most important work for women, then it was by the Pakistan People's Party.
Memon claimed Shaheed Bhutto worked to empower women. The first female Prime Minister of the Ummah, Shaheed Bibi, established women's police stations, the first women's bank and also started the lady health workers program in the country.
Memon said when President Zardari started Benazir Income Support Program. He said today the IMF and the World Bank praise this program.
He said Sindh government is building houses for 2.1 million families free of cost under the housing project.
