The Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology is facing an acute shortage of staff, prompting the health department to make temporary arrangements by deploying doctors from Lahore to sustain operations, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.
Officials said the shortage of human resources has led authorities to assign medical professionals from the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) to the Sahiwal facility on a rotational basis.
Under the arrangement, anaesthesia specialists from PIC will perform duties at the institute twice a week.
Two teams have been formed to ensure continuity of care and minimise disruption to critical services.
Assistant professor of anaesthesia Dr Gul Zahra and senior registrar Dr Mehwish Mehboob are among those scheduled to serve two days each week in Sahiwal.
Additionally, woman medical officer Dr Maryam Masood, medical officer Dr Faisal, and technologist Anees Hussain have also been directed to report for duty at the institute.
