A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC) for a ban on the popular video-sharing app TikTok, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The federal and Punjab governments, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) were made respondents in the case.
The petition, filed by a citizen named Rana Muhammad Usman Anwar, stated that indecent content had increased on TikTok. It also stated that the app was banned in many countries.
In the past, the government banned TikTok after receiving a number of complaints from different segments of society about the indecent content shared on the app.
The ban was, however, lifted after the company assured the Pakistani authorities of controlling the uploading and dissemination of immoral and indecent content on the app.
