The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday disposed of a contempt petition against Jang Media Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mir Shakil-ur-Rehman for not being pursued, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The petition had been filed by BOL Network against Mir Shakil for printing Panama JIT Report in Jang Media Group’s English newspaper “The News”.
A three-member bench, headed by Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan heard the case and disposed of the petition due to the non-appearance of lawyer Babar Awan.
BOL News Network had filed a petition against Ahmed Noorani’s report of the Panama JIT Report in 2017.
The SC had summoned Mir Shakeel, Mir Javed and Ahmad Noorani. The case did not defend or determine whether the news was true or false.
