The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Faisalabad Zone has intensified its crackdown against corruption and human smuggling, arresting two suspects, including a former government official, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to FIA officials, Ex-District Election Commissioner (DEC) Khushab, Asghar Ali Daha, was taken into custody for facilitating the illegal foreign travel of a subordinate officer.
The accused allegedly concealed the officer’s seven-month-long absence from higher authorities while ensuring continued disbursement of his salary, overtime allowances, and honorarium.
In a separate operation, the FIA team arrested another suspect, Gul Abbas, from Talagang, Chakwal.
Gul Abbas had allegedly swindled Rs600,000 from a citizen by promising employment in the UAE but failed to send him abroad and later went into hiding.
Both accused have been shifted to the FIA police station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
