The Japanese government has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives in Pakistan due to recent devastating floods, the spokesperson of the Japanese Embassy in Islamabad said in a statement on Sunday.
The embassy confirmed that on August 16, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba sent a message of condolence to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, offering sympathies on behalf of the Japanese government and people.
“It is with profound sadness that I learned of the many precious lives lost due to flooding in northern Pakistan,” Prime Minister Ishiba said in his message.
He extended heartfelt condolences and prayers for the victims, while assuring solidarity with the bereaved families.
“On behalf of the Government of Japan, I express my deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers for the souls of those who lost their lives, and convey my sincere condolences to the bereaved families,” Ishiba stated.
He further wished the injured a swift and complete recovery, emphasizing Japan’s concern for those affected by the natural disaster.
The Japanese Embassy’s statement reiterated Japan’s compassion in this hour of tragedy and reaffirmed the country’s continued friendship with Pakistan.
