Taylor Swift has revealed that her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl draws inspiration from different chapters of her personal and professional life and one track, in particular, has a unique Hollywood connection.
According to international media reports, Swift drew creative influence from Australian actress Nicole Kidman’s 2024 thriller, Babygirl, a film that garnered widespread attention for its intense performances and dramatic storyline. While the film featured several bold moments, it was one standout sequence that reportedly left a lasting impression on the singer.
Rather than replicating the film’s theme, Swift chose to channel the emotion and artistic energy of the scene into her music. She has reimagined George Michael’s classic hit “Father Figure” (1987), blending its melody with her own fresh lyrics to create a modern interpolation for the album. The project is set to release worldwide on October 3, 2025, and has already stirred excitement among Swift’s global fan base.
“Taylor is a huge admirer of Nicole’s work and has always respected her as both an artist and a person,” a source close to the singer revealed. “She loved Babygirl and the way the story was told. That influence stayed with her and became part of her creative process for this record.”
Swift and Kidman share a long history of mutual admiration. The Hollywood star and her husband, country singer Keith Urban, were among the early supporters of Swift’s career when she was still a teenager in Nashville. Over the years, Kidman has attended Swift’s concerts and even brought her daughters, Faith Margaret and Sunday Rose, to meet the pop star backstage. She once described Swift as a “beautiful woman inside and out” and called them “Folklore sisters” — referencing Swift’s 2020 Grammy-winning album.
The Kidman-inspired track has also gained the blessing of George Michael’s estate, with his former partner Kenny Goss stating that the late singer “would have been proud” to see his music reinterpreted by one of the world’s most successful pop icons.
Swift has described The Life of a Showgirl as a reflection of the “joyful, wild, and dramatic” moments she experienced during recent years, especially while touring. With 12 tracks on the album, fans can expect a mix of nostalgia, storytelling, and bold creativity — and this Kidman connection has only added to the anticipation.
