A gang of six dacoits on Saturday made off with gold worth Rs 180 million after looting businessmen from Multan, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The robbery unfolded near the School Bazar Bridge area of Thana City of Rahim Yar Khan, where a group of six robbers on motorcycles intercepted visiting traders from Multan and forcibly took away a bag laden with valuable gold.
According to Sarafa Bazar Traders Association office bearers, the robbers resorted to firing when faced with resistance from the traders during the confrontation.
As a result, two businessmen sustained serious injuries and were promptly shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital in critical condition for medical treatment.
They claimed that the stolen loot, comprising approximately 8 to 10 kilograms of gold, has an estimated value exceeding Rs 180 million.
The audacious nature of the robbery had left the business community in shock, raising concerns about the security of businesses in the city.
Expressing dissatisfaction, Sarafa leaders alleged that despite timely notification of the robbery incident in Bazaar, the police did not respond promptly.
