A significant development has taken place in the degree case against Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, as he has decided to challenge the ongoing proceedings of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) before the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC).

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, Justice Jahangiri has constituted a legal team comprising three senior lawyers to contest the case at different judicial forums.

Prominent lawyer Akram Sheikh and Barrister Salahuddin will represent him before the Islamabad High Court, while Uzair Bhandari will pursue the matter on his behalf in the Federal Constitutional Court.

Justice Jahangiri is expected to challenge the high court’s decision declaring the case maintainable, with the legal challenge likely to be filed on Wednesday.

An appeal against the Islamabad High Court’s order will formally be submitted to the Federal Constitutional Court.

In addition to the constitutional appeal, separate applications are also expected to be filed in the Islamabad High Court as part of the broader legal strategy adopted by Justice Jahangiri’s counsel.

The case has drawn considerable legal attention, given its constitutional implications and the senior judicial position of the respondent.
