The United Kingdom has issued a renewed travel warning advising its citizens against travelling to Afghanistan, citing severe security risks, political instability and a heightened threat of violence under Taliban rule.

According to 24NewsHD, the British Foreign Office described conditions across Afghanistan as extremely dangerous in an updated advisory, warning that the security situation remains volatile nationwide.

The advisory noted that several border crossings are currently closed, further restricting movement and access.

British officials warned that UK nationals face a heightened risk of detention, with the possibility of arrest and prolonged imprisonment lasting months or even years.

The Foreign Office also stressed that Britain’s capacity to provide consular assistance is severely limited, as it does not maintain an active embassy in Afghanistan.

The advisory highlighted recurring tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, noting that past disputes have escalated into armed clashes along the border regions, increasing risks for civilians and foreign nationals.

According to Khama Press, these developments have further compounded the already fragile security environment.

Western officials say the warning reflects broader international concerns over instability, rising militancy, restricted mobility and limited diplomatic engagement following political changes in Kabul.

British citizens currently in Afghanistan were urged to exercise extreme caution, closely monitor official guidance and consider leaving the country when safe and legal routes are available.
