The leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has yet to act on the party founder’s directive to expel lawmakers who lost contact with the party, except for Zain Qureshi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.
Despite holding meetings of both the political and core committees, no final decision has been made, according to PTI sources.
The party had earlier issued show-cause notices to members who were absent during the voting on the 26th Constitutional Amendment.
Among those who did not participate were Zain Qureshi, Riaz Fitiana, Aslam Ghuman, and Qasim Ali, along with Aurangzeb Khichi, Mubarak Zeb, Senator Zarqa Taimur, Senator Faisal Saleem, and Senator Saifullah Abro.
Insiders reveal that while responses to the show-cause notices were submitted and conveyed to the party founder, a final decision remains pending. Additionally, during the committee meetings, senior leadership criticized Fawad Chaudhry before abruptly ending the discussions.
As of now, PTI has not taken any further action against the members who went missing, reflecting a reluctance within the leadership to fully enforce the founder’s directive.
