A Collaborating Centre Agreement has been signed between the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Oncology (INMOL), Lahore, and the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The agreement was signed by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi in Austria, on the sidelines of a special event at the United Nations Office in Vienna on Tuesday.
The Director General presented a plaque designating INMOL as an IAEA Collaborating Centre.
The ceremony was witnessed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also signed the "UNODC Country Programme for Pakistan (PAKCP4)" with Acting Executive Director John Brandolino.
The ceremony, witnessed by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, marked an important step in strengthening Pakistan's partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
Ishaq Dar signed the "UNIDO Programme for Country Partnership Pakistan 2026-2030" with Deputy Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization Yuko Yasunaga, at the United Nations Office in Vienna.
Witnessed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the agreement reinforces Pakistan's strong engagement with UNIDO and the broader UN system.
PM Shehbaz meets IAEA chief
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for IAEA’s role in the promotion of responsible use of nuclear technology in areas such as cancer diagnosis and treatment, agriculture, nuclear power generation and industrial applications.
He was talking to the Director General IAEA Rafael Mariano Grossi at the Vienna International Centre (VIC), today.
The Prime Minister praised the strong partnership between Pakistan and the IAEA, while observing that Pakistan was not only a beneficiary of the IAEA’s Technical Cooperation Programme but was also contributing to the work of the IAEA through the provision of its experts and conducting international trainings for IAEA Member States.
The DG IAEA acknowledged Pakistan’s experience and expertise in the peaceful uses of nuclear technology and the high quality of its engineers, scientists and technicians.
Among other things, he appreciated Pakistan’s contribution to the work of the IAEA in the areas of nuclear safety and security.
He said Pakistan is well placed to help other Member States of the IAEA in the peaceful applications of nuclear technology.
