Four Indian-sponsored terrorists were gunned down in an encounter with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
The encounter took place in the Shah Latif Town area of the megacity as the terrorists were preparing drum-bombs.
Two policemen of the CTD also sustained injuries in the firing and have been shifted to a hospital.
The operation was conducted on information from under-custody terrorists. The slain outlaws belonged to Bashir Zeb Network of Fitna al-Khawarij and the Indian-sponsored proscribed organisation Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA). Their two to three accomplices escaped during the shootout.
The alleged terrorists were hiding in an under-construction house, sources in the CTD said, adding that when the personnel raided their hideout, the terrorists opened indiscriminate firing, which was retaliated in a befitting manner.
The injured terrorists succumbed to their wounds on the way to the hospital.
Explosives, a Kalashnikov, and other weapons were also seized as the CTD team has launched an operation to arrest their fleeing accomplices.
The terrorists were identified as Jalil alias Farid, Niaz alias King, and Hamdan alias Farid, while the identity of one of the slain terrorists could not be ascertained.
They were filling drums with explosives inside the house. The bomb disposal squad also recovered detonators, detonating wire, and circuits from the house after searching. Later, the house was sealed.
According to CTD officials, the injured police personnel include Head Constable Muhammad Yousuf and Sepoy Raja Junaid, who are receiving medical attention in the hospital.
CTD DIG Ghulam Azfar Mahesar and CTD SSP Irfan Bahadur said that the terrorists belonged to the Fitna al-Hindustan and Indian-backed Bashir Zeb network.
