Heavy fog has forced the closure of key motorways in Punjab, including the Lahore–Sialkot Motorway (M-11) and a section of the M-3 from Faizpur to Jaranwala, the Motorway Police Central Region spokesperson said on Saturday.

The Lahore–Kot Momin section of the M-2 has also been closed due to poor visibility, while the Sham Kot–Abdul Hakeem stretch of the M-4 has also been closed because of dense fog.

The spokesperson said the decision to close the motorways was taken to protect lives and property, warning that lane violations during foggy conditions can lead to fatal accidents.

Motorway Police have urged road users to strictly follow lane discipline, avoid unnecessary travel, and prefer daytime journeys.

According to the advisory, safe travel hours during fog are from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Drivers have been instructed to use fog lights, maintain a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, and avoid speeding under low-visibility conditions.

Motorway Police Central Region spokesperson  Syed Imran Ahmed furtehr said motorists requiring guidance or assistance can contact the Motorway Police Helpline at 130.
