A trial court in Islamabad on Saturday said categorically that its decision to cancel the bail of human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband Hadi Ali Chattha in controversial tweets case was irrevocable, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The court instead again issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the couple.
Earlier, counsel for the defence Riasat Ali Azad had prayed to the court to revoke its decision of the cancellation of the bail of Imaan and Hadi, saying the decision had already been challenged in the Islamabad High Court.
But the court said it could revisit its verdict if the high court pronounced any decision by Monday.
In a written order of today’s hearing, penned down by Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka, it was said that despite the issuance of non-bailable arrest warrants for the couple, both could not be arrested because they had gone into hiding and were not willing to turn themselves into the law-enforcement agencies; police and the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
The judge ordered the police and the NCCIA to arrest the couple by Monday and produce them in court.
Later the court adjourned the case’s hearing until Monday.
