Electricity prices across the country are likely to increase under the upcoming monthly fuel adjustment, as a request seeking a hike of 48 paisa per unit has been submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
According to sources, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has applied to the December 2025 monthly adjustment.
NEPRA is scheduled to hold a hearing on the request on January 29.
The proposed adjustment will be applicable to consumers of K-Electric as well, meaning the potential increase would impact electricity users across Pakistan, including Karachi.
Currently, the November monthly adjustment is in effect nationwide, under which electricity prices were reduced by 93 paisa per unit, providing temporary relief to consumers.
If approved, the latest increase would once again add to the financial burden on households already struggling with rising inflation and utility costs.
