The Punjab government has started the construction work of the Ring Road Southern Loop-3 (SL-3) project, a much-awaited plan by the residents of Lahore, the 24NewsHd TV channel reported on Sunday.
According to sources, the Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA) officials have started identification of the 3000 kanal-acquired land of the 8.5 km long SL-3.
The Lahore Ring Road Authority Chairman Dr Sohail Shahzad is supervising the demarcation process while the Director Fahad Anees Qureshi along with the team members are engaged in the work.
Reportedly, Lahore High Court (LHC) has vacated all the stay orders which were acquired to stop the construction work of SL-3.
The Punjab government will construct 8.5 of SL3 from Ada Plot to Multan Road at a cost of more than seventeen billion rupees.
The Punjab government has approved the funds for the Ring Road SL-3 project.
The process has also been initiated to get the approval of the funds for SL-3 from the federal government.
SL-3 project includes two interchanges while the Multan Road interchange will be the largest interchange in Punjab province.
In the project, service lanes will be provided to the main corridor and the population on both sides.
The Lahore Ring Road Authority has also started preparing to float a tender under the second option of construction of the project.
