What could be termed an important development in a money laundering and assets beyond sources of income case against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others, an accountability court (AC) in Lahore on Monday accepted the defendants’ petition, seeking early hearing of their acquittal pleas, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
AC judge Qamaruz Zaman directed the petitioners’ lawyers to give arguments today.
Amjad Pervaiz, counsel for PM Shehbaz, would complete his arguments today.
In their pleas, the prime minister and his son Hamza Shehbaz had contended that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a false and a fake case against them, and that their assets were not beyond their sources of income.
They went on to say that even the NAB’s supplementary report corroborated their argument.
