Youm-e-Ashur, the 10th of Moharram-ul-Haram, was observed today (Wednesday) across the country with due solemnity to pay homage to the supreme sacrifice rendered by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his devoted companions in Karbala, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Mourning processions were being taken out in all cities and towns throughout the country.
Ulema and Zakireen highlighted the bright and candid teachings of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and various aspects of Karbala tragedy.
Elaborate security arrangements were made to avoid any untoward incident during the mourning processions.
As is the case elsewhere in the world, Muslims in Pakistan too are today (Muharram 10th) remembering the supreme sacrifice given by the grandson of the holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) at Karbala around 1,400 years ago.
Mourning processions culminated peacefully
In Lahore, the main procession of Youm-e-Ashur (Muharram 10th) was taken out of Nisar Haveli, which, after passing through over 100 imambargahs, culminated at the Hussainia Hall later in the evening.
The participants of the procession beat their chests to mourn the martyrdom of the great Imam.
As the mourners reached Hussainia Hall, Azan-e-Ali Akbar was recited.
Heavy contingents of police have been deployed to provide security to the mourners, while, on the other hand, snipers have taken their positions on the rooftops of buildings situated along the routes of the procession.
In RA Bazaar, Lahore Cantonment, a large number of people, belonging to the Sunni sect, participated in a procession, which after passing through different routes finally culminated at Imambargah Syed Aslam Ali Shah.
Mohsin Naqvi visits Lahore’s Pando Street
Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi visited Pando Street in Lahore to review the security arrangements made in connection with the Youm-e-Ashur.
CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, Commissioner Lahore Zaid bin Maqsood, DC Lahore Raafia Haider and SP City Qazi Ali Raza were also present on the occasion.
Main procession in Karachi
In Karachi, the main procession left Nishtar Park and culminated at Imambargah Hussainia Irania at Kharadar.
Allama Shehn Shah Hussain Naqvi addressed the majlis before the start of the procession.
The law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) made elaborate security arrangements as all streets and roads along the routes of processions had been sealed two days ago.
All markets, shopping centres and hotels at MA Jinnah Road were closed on Sunday, while the road linking Gurru Mandir to Tower had also been closed for all kinds of traffic.
As many as 17, 947 police officials and personnel performed duties today, while snipers were deployed on the rooftops of buildings situated along routes of the processions.
Main procession in Gujranwala
In Gujranwala, a large number of people were participating in the main procession, taken out from Markazi Imambargah Gulistan-e-Maarfat in the morning.
The procession passed through different routes.
Strict security arrangements had been made along the routes of the procession.

Main procession in Jhang
In Jhang, mourners were reciting verses and beating their chests in the remembrance of the tragic incident of Karbala.
They are also showering rose petals on the image of coffin of Hazrat Ali Asghar (AS).
Main procession in Okara
Heavy contingents of police deployed along the routes of the main procession in Okara, which left Imambargah Haideria Lorry Adda and culminated at Aiwan-e-Hussain D Block later in the day.
Barbed wires were placed to block the roads through which the mourners were passing.
Main procession Shikarpur
In Shikarpur, the main procession left Imambargah Karbala-e-Moala Lakhidar Chowk and passed through different roads of the city.
Main procession in Peshawar
In Peshawar, a large number of mourners participated in the main procession, which was taken out from Imambargah Syed Agha Ali Shah Rizvi and culminated at Muhala Khudadad.
On the other hand, foolproof arrangements were made to provide security to the mourners.
Yaum-e-Ashur in Dera Bugti
Just like in other parts of the country, the 10th of Muharram (Yaum-e-Ashura) was also observed in Dera Bugti.
The main procession was taken out from Panjtan Imambargah of tehsil Sui.
Langar, sweet water camps set up
On the directions of the Punjab chief minister, the district administration had completed the arrangement for food (Langar) and sweet water camps for the people on the main processions’ routes of Lahore on Ashura Day.
The spokesperson for the district administration said that all arrangements had been completed on the main procession routes from Nisar Haveli, Niaz Baig and Model Town.
Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafia Haider said that Health, WASA, LWMC camps were active on the routes of the main processions. She said Langar and Sabil camps were also fully functional.
The DC said the staff of Health and Rescue 1122 was on alert to deal with any emergency. With the help of more than 850 CCTV cameras, the main procession was being fully monitored from the DC office control room, she added.
Rafia Haider said full-proof security had also been provided for the central processions.
