Pakistani actor Ali Abbas, in a podcast appearance, expressed his concerns over the undue criticism that Pakistani actors faced during the regional tension between India and Pakistan.
Speaking candidly during the discussion with host Ahmed Ali Butt, Ali Abbas stressed how artists are frequently pushed to the forefront during national emergencies, especially in times of political conflicts between countries.
Talking about the latest confrontation between the countries following the Pahalgam attack, the male actor said: “Several actors were publicly called out not for staying silent, but for not using abusive language against India.”
His views outraged the audience, which led to hostile comments from social media users.
It is important to mention that prominent Pakistani actors Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, and many others were vehemently criticized for not speaking against India during the war.
A user commented: “Mr whatever! Do you think ur horrendous narrative would make us believe this way, no, sorry. Actors were not criticised for not being abusive, thy were not showing sympathy to the people who have been killed in the war, and keeping their interest above the national interest.”
Another added: “Don’t forget India killed our 40+ innocent people without any proof of their involvement in Pahalgam attack.”
One more comment reads as: “At least condemn. Don't use bad language bro no one said to use bad language but to speak for your country.”
