In Nawabshah, six members of the Bhungwar community were killed when rivals opened fire on them while they were en route to a court appearance on Thursday morning.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel report, the tragic incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the B-Section Police Station.
Police said the bodies of five people were found in Keriya Mori in Nawabshah, while the body of one person was found in nearby fields.
Nawabshah Police said the deceased have been identified as Qurban, Shahbaz, Farman Habdar, Yar Muhammad, and Najeeb Bhangwar.
Police said the deceased were coming from the village to appear in court when they were shot dead by opponents near Keriya Mori.
As per the report, upon receiving information of the five murders, a heavy contingent of police reached the crime scene.
According to police, the attack appears to be the result of an old enmity, although further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The bodies of the deceased persons have been transferred to the Nawabshah hospital.
In a separate incident in Larkana, armed assailants entered the orthopaedic ward of Chandka Civil Hospital and opened fire, killing a husband and wife and injuring two others, including another woman.
The gunfire caused panic and chaos inside the ward, prompting frightened patients and attendants to rush outside in fear.
According to police, the shooters were affiliated with the Najeeb Mughiri group and targeted Muhammad Yousuf Mughiri and his wife, Rehana, both residents of the Behram area. Another woman who was attending to a patient in the ward was also wounded.
In a remarkable twist, the woman, Rehana, before succumbing to her injuries, managed to return fire using her pistol. As a result, one of the attackers—identified as Najeeb Mughiri—was injured.
The attackers managed to flee after the shooting. Police believe the attack was motivated by a family dispute.
