Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar along with Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi called on Interim Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul on Thursday, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said that during the meeting, two sides agreed to maintain the current positive momentum in bilateral relations.
The two leaders stressed on joint efforts to expand cooperation in the areas of trade, transit and security so that both nations can reap mutual benefits, Foreign Office Spokesperson said. The two sides agreed to remain in touch to realize the potential for regional economic development through the completion of inter-regional connectivity projects, the Foreign Office spokesperson said.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has reached Kabul on a one-day visit to Afghanistan, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Thursday.
According to Foreign Office spokesman, DPM Dar is accompanied by Minister of Railways, the Special Representative for Afghanistan and the Secretary of Railways.
His visit is in connection with the signing of a trilateral framework agreement on a joint feasibility study for the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway project.
Dar will also hold key meetings in Kabul with the acting Afghan Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, and other senior officials of the Afghan interim administration.
The agenda also include wide-ranging discussions on counterterrorism, bilateral relations, visa policies, and border management.
A crucial part of these discussions will focus on the recurring issue of outlawed groups allegedly using Afghan soil to launch attacks against Pakistan.
Islamabad has consistently raised its concerns regarding cross-border terrorism, and this visit is seen as a direct attempt to press Kabul for more tangible action.
