On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a rain emergency was declared in various parts of the province, including Rawalpindi and Chakwal, on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The district administrations, police, Rescue 1122 and other departments swung into action across the province to rescue the people stranded in floodwaters.
People were advised not to take bath in canals and streams. Similarly, the traffic police were directed to make arrangements to regulate the traffic properly.
The chief minister directed to shift the people living in dilapidated homes and low-lying areas to safe locations.
She also ordered all hospital administrations to remain on high alert.
Maryam appealed to the people to cooperate with the departments busy in the rescue operation and act upon the instructions in order to remain safe.
