In a significant political development, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) candidate Tuesday Gopal Singh has been elected to the minority seat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, following the withdrawal of the PML-N’s candidate in his favour.
The decision came after a meeting between senior political leaders and officials of the Election Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting, held in Peshawar, was attended by PML-N Provincial President Amir Muqam and JUI-F Provincial Amir Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman.
The PML-N formally backed the JUI-F nominee, allowing Gopal Singh to be elected unopposed.
