The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Thursday issued an estimate of the losses caused by flooding in different parts of Pakistan from June 26 to July 17.
According to the NDMA, at least 178 people were killed and 491 injured in rain-related incidents across Pakistan during the aforementioned people. In Punjab alone, 103 people, including 50 children, were killed in rain and flooding and 385 were injured.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 38 people were killed and 57 injured in rain related incidents. Moreover, 20 people were killed and 40 injured in Sindh, 16 people were killed and four injured in Balochistan and one person was killed in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Over the last 24 hours, NDMA said, 54 people were killed in rain and flooding and 22 of them were children. At least 54 people were killed in rain-related incidents in Punjab and 227 were injured. Rain and floods damaged 88 houses over the last 24 hours. Overall the number of houses damaged in recent rains and floods is 610. In another incident, floodwater swept away a group of 126 cattle.
