FIA Gujranwala Zone speeded up indictment of human smugglers from the court and in this regard during the first six months of 2026, the FIA has secured convictions for 164 accused individuals.
For the first time, the FIA secured 22-year prison sentences from the courts for human smugglers operating in the Gujranwala Division—a region considered a hub for human trafficking.
FIA Director Muhammad Bin Ashraf said that human smugglers Aslam Mayo, Sarwar Sindhu, Nadeem Mayo and Rauf have been sentenced to 22 years in prison each. Muhammad Sajjad has been handed down 19 years in prison, and Sagheer Hussain to 10 years.
FIA Director Muhammad Bin Ashraf said that the courts have also imposed fines totaling 16.5 million rupees on human smugglers in Gujranwala. FIA Director said a record recovery of 880.96 million rupees has been made in ongoing inquiries and cases in Gujranwala.
