The government is likely to increase the electricity tariff by Rs1.20 per unit for June 2026 across the country under the monthly Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) formula, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to details, Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee Limited has submitted power generation data to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra).
The main reason for the higher FCA for June 2026 was less generation from hydel sources, forced outages of a few thermal plants, the use of expensive Furnace Oil, and RLNG.
Nepra will conduct a public hearing before finalizing the impact of FCA on consumers of Discos and K-Electric on July 29, 2026.
