All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has reacted strongly over federal government’s decision regarding revision of petrol prices on daily basis, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. Petrol Pump Owners Association has announced strike call until the government withdraws its decision. Nauman Ali Butt, Vice Chairman, All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association said the government did not take 15,000 petrol pump owners into confidence regarding the decision. The association termed government decision foolish and advised the government to review its policy.
Nauman Butt said burden of problems should not be placed on petrol pump owners.
The Association demanded that all stakeholders should be taken into confidence before finalizing rates with OMCs. Association stated that the new policy will impact oil tankers, transportation, and the pricing mechanism.
Meanwhile, Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has flayed the government decision terming it tantamount to plundering. Taking to social media handle on X, Hafiz Naeem said the decision by the government will public hard. “Why doesn't the coalition government abolish the 120-rupee tax on petrol instead of raising prices?” Hafiz Naeem questioned.
JI chief said that the levy has no connection to the actual price of petrol. Why doesn't the government put an end to this extortion disguised as a levy? Naeem said. He said that the failed government was continuously shifting the burden of its failure onto the public.
