Meghan Markle has finally broken her silence about the now-viral ‘Baby Momma Dance’ video from the delivery room, which captured a candid and playful moment during the birth of her daughter, Princess Lilibet.
In a preview of her upcoming appearance on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, reflected on the clip that features her dancing and twerking alongside Prince Harry, 40.
The lighthearted footage was originally shared on Instagram on June 4 to mark Lilibet’s fourth birthday.
“Four years ago today, this also happened,” Meghan had captioned the post. “Both of our children were a week past their due dates so when spicy food, all that walking, and acupuncture didn’t work, there was only one thing left to do!”
Meghan told podcast host Emma Grede that sharing the video was part of embracing her authentic self. “You have to be authentic,” she said, adding that there’s often a disconnect between public perception and her real personality.
The video not only offered a rare glimpse into Meghan and Harry’s private life but also resonated with mothers worldwide who have used humor and movement as part of their birthing journey. "So it's also a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there's still a whole life a real, authentic, fun life that's happening behind the scenes," the Duchess continued.
Grede, the founding partner and chief product officer of SKIMS and CEO of Good American, revealed she had watched the video multiple times.
"We maybe watched it like 20 times yesterday, and I was like, is that, is that her? Is that Prince Harry there with the fingers... I was like, okay... good on Harry, let's go," she said.
The London-born entrepreneur praised Meghan's openness, adding: "But that's you, right? Like that's you in a way that we kind of haven't been able to see you before."
