Health authorities in Faisalabad are continuing efforts to contain the spread of infectious diseases after a patient undergoing treatment at Allied Hospital-I was confirmed to have dengue fever, adding to concerns over the presence of both dengue and monkeypox cases in the city.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the dengue patient and a monkeypox patient have been transferred to an isolation ward, where they are receiving medical care and treatment under close supervision. Health officials said precautionary measures have been implemented to prevent further transmission of the diseases.
With the latest diagnosis, the number of dengue patients reported at Allied Hospital Faisalabad this year has risen to six. Hospital records also show that 16 confirmed monkeypox cases have been reported at the facility so far during the current year.
The development comes amid broader concerns about monkeypox infections in Pakistan. Earlier this week, health authorities in Karachi confirmed another monkeypox case, bringing the total number of reported infections in the city to 11.
According to officials, the latest patient in Karachi was a 26-year-old resident of the Defence area whose infection was confirmed through a PCR test. He was admitted to an isolation ward after developing symptoms and remains under medical supervision.
Hospital authorities in Karachi said that nine of the city's confirmed monkeypox cases have been reported at Nipa Hospital. Health officials added that contact tracing and preventive measures are continuing in an effort to limit the spread of the virus.
Authorities have urged members of the public to remain vigilant, follow health guidelines and seek medical attention if they experience symptoms associated with dengue or monkeypox, as officials continue to monitor the situation closely.
