Citizens seeking driving licences in Lahore have been given major relief as free medical fitness certificate centres have been established at government hospitals across the city, 24NewsHD TV reported.

According to the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore, applicants can now obtain medical fitness certificates free of charge from designated public hospitals.

In the first phase, free driving licence fitness certificate centres have been set up at 13 government hospitals, including DHQ Mian Mir Hospital, DHQ Mozang, General Hospital Ghaziabad, and Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sabzazar, where dedicated medical counters have already been established.

The facility has also been extended to public hospitals in Samanabad, Qila Gujjar Singh, Shahdara, Bilal Ganj, Sodiwal, Kahna, Raiwind, and Swami Nagar.

The CTO said that medical fitness certificates are mandatory for applicants seeking commercial driving licences as well as individuals aged 50 years and above.

To curb the issuance of fake medical certificates, authorities are introducing a digital verification system.

Officials believed that online medical verification would enhance transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the driving licence issuance process.
