A 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped and later killed by the main accused with the help of his accomplices in a horrific incident reported from Rahim Yar Khan, police and sources said on Tuesday.
According to details, the victim, identified as Misbah, was allegedly lured by the main suspect, Muhammad Anas, a resident of Salman Garden, Rahim Yar Khan, under the pretext of providing online work opportunities. Sources said the accused, who was known to the victim through her workplace at a private outlet (Bashir Mall), took her to Imam Nagar where the alleged crime took place.
Four days prior to the incident, the victim had reportedly informed her mother over the phone that she had been raped by Anas and 6–7 other individuals from his group. The case was already under consideration.
Sources further stated that when the victim’s mother went to bring her daughter back, the accused allegedly ran her over with a car while she was in a critical condition, after which they fled the scene. The injured girl was shifted to a hospital but succumbed to her injuries.
Following a postmortem examination, her body was handed over to the family for burial. A murder case has been registered on the complaint of the victim’s mother against the main accused and his accomplices.
Police officials said District Police Officer (DPO) Irfan Ali Samo took notice of the incident and ordered immediate legal action. Police registered the case and investigation teams were deployed to trace the suspects.
A police spokesperson said teams led by the DSP Sadar Circle and SHO Abadpur police station have arrested the main accused, Muhammad Anas, while raids are ongoing to apprehend other suspects involved in the case.
The spokesperson added that the investigation is being conducted on merit, transparency, and with the help of all available evidence. “All aspects of the incident are being thoroughly examined, and legal action will be taken according to the facts once the investigation is completed,” the spokesperson said.
DPO Irfan Ali Samo has directed investigators to ensure swift resolution of the case and to bring all perpetrators to justice in accordance with the law.
