The security sources on Tuesday rejected claims circulating in Afghan circles that the Pakistan Air Force had struck a civil hospital in Kabul, presenting factual details to counter propaganda by the Afghan Taliban.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the security sources said the site targeted on March 16 was not a hospital but a former United States military installation known as Camp Phoenix.
They maintained that the location had been repurposed and was being used as a facility where drug addicts were allegedly held and trained for suicide bombing activities in the region.
The sources further argued that the structure being described as a “drug hospital", referred to as Umeed Hospital in some claims, did not match the characteristics of the targeted site.
They said the actual strike location consisted of a containerised setup used for militant training, whereas a conventional hospital would have been a multi-storey building.
Sources also questioned the presence of what they described as rehabilitation activities in close proximity to ammunition storage sites, pointing to visible secondary explosions following the strike as evidence.
They said the intensity of the blasts and resulting plumes indicated the existence of significant ammunition depots at the location.
The sources criticised what they called strict media control by the Afghan Taliban, alleging that certain sections of international media had echoed the narrative without verification while remaining largely silent on developments in other conflict zones.
Earlier in the day, 24NewsHD TV channel reported that Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan’s armed forces had carried out precision airstrikes under Operation Ghazab Lil Haq on the night of March 16, targeting terrorism-supporting military installations of the Afghan Taliban in Kabul.
In a post uploaded on social media platform X on Tuesday, the federal minister stated that technical support infrastructure and ammunition storage facilities at two sites in Kabul were successfully destroyed.
Tarar further said that visible secondary explosions following the strikes confirmed the presence of large ammunition depots at the targeted locations.
Tarar said the strikes were carried out with precision, targeting only those facilities used by the Afghan Taliban regime to support its multiple terror proxies, including Fitna Al Khawarij and Fitna Al Hindustan.
Tarar said the Taliban regime’s propaganda cannot befool Afghans or the international community about its heinous actions in supporting and sponsoring terrorism in the region.
Tarar added that operations under Ghazab Lil Haq, aimed at protecting Pakistani citizens from terrorism waged by the “Master Terror Proxy", would continue until the stated objectives are fully achieved.
The minister said that the accompanying footage clearly shows the nature of the targeted infrastructure.
