Fire erupted in the basement of a shopping mall at Tariq Road in Karachi on Tuesday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
However, five fire brigade vehicles rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze.
Chief Fire Officer Humayun said that the fire caused damage to two to three shops.
The condition of two firefighters deteriorated while they were dousing the flames.
Extolling the swift action taken by the fire brigade department, the Market Association announced cash reward of Rs1 million for the firefighters, while a separate cash reward of Rs200,000 was announced for Iskandar, the firefighter whose condition had deteriorated while battling the blaze.
The Market Association president said that the fire brigade department acted on time for which it deserved praise.
However, the cause of the fire could not be ascertained till the filing of this report.
