DIG Operations Faisal Kamran has punished 15 police officials for abuse of authority, corruption, negligence of duty, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel.
Severe punishments comprised dismissal from service, forfeiture of salaries and reversal of promotions. All officers and officials were sentenced upon completion of departmental inquiries.
DIG Operations said punishments were given after inquiry on intelligence reports and complaints from citizens. The process of departmental accountability in Lahore Police is being further accelerated and tightened.
He said 440 officials have been punished in 11 months.
Faisal Kamran said corruption, abuse of power were enemies of the people and the police department, adding that one official's mistake casts doubt on 30,000 soldiers of the force.
DIG Operations said Lahore Police was committed to eradicate crime. He said a few black sheep will not be allowed to bring disrepute to the entire department. Faisal Kamran said departmental accountability plays a key role in building the best force.
