Federal Minister for Trade Jam Kamal Khan said on Saturday that a reduction in tariff on the goods imported from the USA would create a space for Pakistani goods in that country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Speaking to the 24News TV channel, Jam said that the government had drawn up a plan to deal with the situation, arising out of the tariffs announced by the USA.
He further said that if zero tariff offer benefitted both the countries, then it could be considered.
“Presently, Pakistan is importing cotton, Soybean and other products from the USA,” he said, adding, “Pakistan wants to import from the USA machinery for the Reko Diq project, while in future, it will import machinery for mining.”
Whenever, the minister went on to say, there would be trade talks with the USA, these proposals would come under discussion.
“US President Donald Trump has expressed the desire to enhance trade with Pakistan,” Jam said, adding, “Pakistan, on the other hand, is trying to secure its own interests.”
