United Kingdom Foreign Secretary David Lammy, currently on an official visit to Pakistan, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday at the Prime Minister’s House. The two leaders discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues.

Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to maintaining the ceasefire understanding along the Line of Control, emphasizing that Pakistan had shown "great patience and restraint" in response to India’s "baseless allegations and unprovoked aggression." He underscored that Pakistan’s recent actions were a "measured, proportionate, and targeted" exercise of its right to self-defense, while reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering desire for peace in South Asia — coupled with a resolve to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Prime Minister extended warm regards to King Charles III and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and expressed satisfaction over the positive momentum in Pakistan-UK relations. He also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation with the UK across multiple sectors.

Foreign Secretary Lammy congratulated Prime Minister Sharif on the ceasefire understanding and affirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
