At stumps on day two, Bangladesh were 110 for 3 in their second innings after building a crucial advantage over the visitors in a steadily progressing contest.
Mahmudul Hasan Joy led the batting effort with a composed 52 before being dismissed, while Mominul Haque contributed 30 runs. Tanzid Hasan managed just four runs before losing his wicket.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto remained unbeaten on 13 at the end of play as Bangladesh looked set to extend their lead further on the third day.
For Pakistan, Khurram Shehzad claimed two wickets while Mohammad Abbas picked up one.
Earlier, Pakistan’s batting line-up struggled once again, as the visitors were bowled out for 232 runs in their first innings, handing Bangladesh a valuable 46-run lead.
Resuming the second day’s play at 21 without loss, Pakistan failed to build momentum after losing wickets at regular intervals against disciplined Bangladeshi bowling.
Babar Azam played the leading role for Pakistan with a fighting innings of 68 runs, while Shan Masood and Salman Ali Agha contributed 21 runs each.
Bangladesh, who had earlier been bowled out for 278 in their first innings, secured a 46-run advantage after dismissing Pakistan for 232.
The home side’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings, preventing Pakistan’s middle and lower order from recovering after the early setbacks.
The first-innings lead has placed Bangladesh in a strong position as the Test match continues in Sylhet.
