Pakistani actor and singer Farhan Saeed has praised veteran actress Saba Hameed, comparing her to legendary Indian actor Amrish Puri for her powerful performances in negative roles.
During a recent appearance on a show hosted by entertainment journalist Maliha Rehman, Farhan Saeed spoke openly about Saba Hameed’s powerful performances and the impact she created through her iconic role in the drama Mere Humsafar.
The conversation began when the host mentioned how audiences instantly feel nervous whenever Saba Hameed appears in an evil role because of how naturally she performs such characters.
Agreeing with the statement, Farhan said it is nearly impossible to find another actor who can play negative roles better than her.
Praising her acting skills, Farhan Saeed compared Saba Hameed to legendary Indian actor Amrish Puri, who was globally admired for playing some of cinema’s most iconic villains, including the unforgettable Mogambo from Mr. India.
Farhan explained that audiences never complained about seeing Amrish Puri repeatedly in negative roles because he performed them with unmatched brilliance, and according to him, Saba Hameed carries the same powerful screen presence in Pakistani dramas.
Recalling the success of Mere Humsafar, Farhan revealed that he actually kissed Saba Hameed’s hands on set because of how brilliantly she portrayed the cruel and emotionally abusive character of Tai Jaan.
The actor shared that his own character Hamza became a stronger hero only because Saba Hameed’s villainous role created such emotional pain and tension for Hala in the drama.
According to Farhan, audiences rooted for Hamza’s efforts to protect and support Hala because Tai Jaan’s character was portrayed so convincingly.
He added that playing a negative role is not easy and very few actors can perform such emotionally intense characters with the level of perfection and realism that Saba Hameed brings to the screen.
Farhan Saeed also revealed that he is once again working alongside Saba Hameed in the drama Bas Tera Saath Ho, where she is once again emotionally troubling his character, something he said she performs “crazy well.”
