Newly-elected Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, addressed the Assembly on Monday, outlining his priorities and vowing to serve with integrity and commitment, reported 24NewsHd TV channel.
Speaking in the House, Rathore said it was not an easy decision to take on the government for a nine-month tenure, but he considers it an honour to have been entrusted with the responsibility.
He expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, and highlighted that the presence of a large number of political workers at the Assembly is proof of their determination to bring positive change.
Rathore openly acknowledged his disagreements with the former Prime Minister, emphasising that he did not compromise on principles.
He candidly remarked that decisions in the previous government had been delayed, noting that “the Prime Minister's pen has been getting tired of late.”
Promising inclusivity, Rathore stated that he intends to take everyone along and work closely with the Action Committee to resolve public issues.
Reflecting on his personal sacrifices, he revealed that he sold his father’s house to contest the election and pledged that his assets will not increase, stressing that his position is not for personal gain.
“I have been entrusted with the people’s trust, and now I will have to respond with performance,” Rathore said, adding that the recent political stalemate has been broken and new energy has entered the political landscape of Azad Kashmir.
