The Lahore High Court will hear appeals filed by former Members of the National Assembly, Ahmed Bachar and Muhammad Ahmed Chattha, challenging their disqualification tomorrow, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
A new two-member bench, comprising Justice Sultan Tanveer Ahmed and Justice Malik Muhammad Owais Khalid, has been formed to hear the appeals, with proceedings scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday).
Previously, a two-member bench led by Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal had recused itself from hearing the case.
The lawmakers were disqualified under Article 63(1)(h). Chatha was elected from NA-66 Wazirabad constituency, while Bachar represented PP-87 Mianwali in Punjab.
They have filed intra-court appeals seeking to have the Election Commission of Pakistan’s notification of their disqualification declared null and void.
The Punjab government will be represented by Assistant Advocate General Punjab, Muhammad Usman Khan, during the hearing.
The court’s decision will determine whether the disqualifications of the two former MNAs will stand or be overturned.
