In another accident involving a tanker, a speeding water tanker crushed a motorcyclist to death besides injuring another near Punjab bus stop at Super Highway in Karachi on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Police impounded the tanker, while the driver managed to flee from the spot.
Rescuers said that the dead body as well as the injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Police said that the deceased had not been identified as yet, while the injured person was identified as Mustajab.
On Saturday, the Karachi Traffic Police had imposed a ban on the movement of dumpers and water tankers across the city.
The decision came in the aftermath of the Razzaqabad accident, where a dumper without a tracker system killed a rickshaw driver and injured several people.
A nearby shop and a van were also damaged in the incident.
The DIG said that the prohibition would remain in place until strict compliance with monitoring requirements was ensured.
“Only those heavy vehicles will be allowed on the roads that not only have trackers installed but have formally granted access to the system to the traffic police,” he said, and added, “Although many tankers and dumpers already have tracking devices, their owners have not provided access to the law-enforcement agencies (LEAs).”
The DIG cautioned that any dumper or water tanker found operating without an active tracker or without sharing tracker access would be seized.
