An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) embraced martyrdom during a raid conducted for the arrest of the accused in hiding in Khairpur, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Setharja police conducted a raid in Gul Muhammad Jamro village near Ranipur to arrest the accused in hiding.
The accused, however, opened fire on the police, leaving the ASI martyred.
The police had conducted the raid on information about an armed clash between two groups in the village.
The martyred ASI was identified as Amir Bakhsh Sodhro while two other persons sustained injuries in firing by the accused.
Search for the arrest of the accused is underway, police said.
