The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) personnel thwarted an attempt to smuggle a huge quantity of heroin from Peshawar to Sharjah at Bacha Khan International Airport, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
According to details, after receiving credible information, ANF personnel deputed at Bacha Khan Airport's international departure lounge intercepted a suspicious man and a woman going to Sharjah.
During detailed checking, the ANF personnel recovered 690 grams of heroin, which were filled in capsules, from their stomach.
In other operations, the Anti-Narcotics Force seized 136.82 kilograms of narcotics worth Rs36.3 million and arrested five persons, including a woman, in different operations.
The ANF team seized 380 grams of hashish from an accused near a university in the H-9 Sector of Islamabad.
The arrested accused admitted to supplying narcotics to students.
Another ANF team recovered 500 grams of opium from a passenger near Haji Shah Bus Stop on GT Road, Attock.
In Multan, an ANF team seized a shopping bag and recovered 250 grams of heroin. In another operation, the ANF team intercepted a truck at CPEC Road Panjour, and impounded 145 kilograms of ice.
ANF authorities registered cases against all the accused under the Anti-Narcotics Act 2997 and started an investigation.
