A drastic dropout rate in the government schools across Lahore has set alarm bells ringing, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
High-ups have sought five-year enrolment records from school heads to investigate the reasons behind the steady drop.
According to initial reports, only 98 students were enrolled at Government Pakistan Model High School, Rehmanpura, and 119 students at Government Girls High School, Azam Cloth Market.
Government High School, St Francis New Anarkali, has 121 students, while Bassi San and Bata Pur schools have 134 and 145 students.
Enrolment at Railway Quarters Mughalpura & GOR-I stands at 173, followed by 205 at Harbanspura, 212 at Rang Mahal, 235 at FD Model Boys High School, Garden Town, and 237 at Bengali Dairy Farm.
Authorities have warned that schools with fewer than 100 students will be outsourced.
