Preparations have begun at Kartarpur Gurdwara Sahib for the 486th Jyoti Jot anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism.
The three-day commemorations will be held from September 20 to 22, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to officials, the Kartarpur Management Unit, the Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, and other administrative bodies are working around the clock to ensure smooth arrangements for the event.
However, India has not granted permission for Sikh pilgrims to attend the anniversary through the Kartarpur Corridor or via the Wagah border, a decision that has disappointed many devotees.
The Kartarpur Gurdwara premises, which had suffered damage in recent cross-border hostilities, are being rapidly restored in time for the ceremonies.
The annual Jyoti Jot anniversary holds special significance for the Sikh community worldwide, commemorating Baba Guru Nanak’s passing and his teachings of peace, tolerance, and unity.
The Jyoti Jot anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji marks his death and is observed at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur around September 22nd each year, as he passed away on September 22, 1539, at Kartarpur.
Celebrations involve religious ceremonies, including the recitation of the Guru Granth Sahib (Paath Sahib) and prayers (Ardas), and often culminate with a Nagar Kirtan (a religious procession) to the Zero Line at the India-Pakistan border.
