President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in Northwestern China, on Wednesday.
Governor of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Erkin Tunya and Vice Governor Chen Weijun welcomed President Zardari on his arrival.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zemin was also present on the occasion.
On this occasion, Governor Erkin Tunya insisted that he would personally drop President Zardari off at the State Guest House. He then accompanied the president in his car to the State Guest House.
President Zardari’s visit to Urumqi will further strengthen Pak-China regional cooperation.
Earlier on Wednesday, President Zardari left Shanghai for Urumqi. At the Hongqiao International Airport, the president was seen off by Shanghai CPC Secretary Chen Jining and senior Chinese and Pakistani officials, President Secretariat Press Wing said in a press release.
