Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday provided further facilitation for registration under the government’s fuel subsidy scheme for the low and middle-income segments.

On the prime minister’s instructions, the SMS required for registration under the Petrol Subsidy Scheme has been made completely free of charge, a press release issued by the PM Office Media Wing said.

Under the scheme, fuel subsidies are being provided to owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and vehicles up to 800cc.

The government is extending relief under the Prime Minister’s Fuel Subsidy Scheme across the country, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Applicants can register by sending an SMS to 9771 by typing REG, followed by a space, their CNIC number, vehicle number plate, the first letter of the province where the vehicle is registered, and the vehicle’s registration date. The registration SMS is now free of charge.
